This new day time introductory course teaches the technical skills of drawing with the importance of concentrated worthwhile practice. We will do exercises in a range of formal skills exploring tools and techniques to help in any drawing situation to improve selection, composition and results. You will gain a good understanding of what makes a drawing successful: quality of line, balance, shape, composition and the format and how these elements can be introduced into your work so you can get closer to the results you want. www.inverlochy.org.nz The Grammar of Drawing 2 - Geometry Anyone can Draw This is a course teaching the skills of drawing which can be applicable to any medium, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil and pastel. We will do exercises in a range of formal skills: quality of line, negative and positive space, understanding form, composition of elements within a format. This grounding will help you find your own means of expression. With guidance you will learn a broad range of skills that can improve your drawing skill and appreciation of drawing. All materials provided. www.inverlochy.org.nz Drawing and Painting the Portrait Learn the portrait in our eight part class. Starting with the proportions of the head, we will focus on structural masses, the importance of perspective and effects of lighting and colour, through to classic drawing and painting techniques, all to help create convincing three dimensionality and realism. There will also be insights into types of portraiture and the importance of expressive and individual approaches to portraits both drawn and painted.
