After many years of involvement in the creative community of Inverlochy Art School I am now a tutor. It is a privilege to pass on everything I am learning.
www.inverlochy.org.nz Anyone can Draw This is a course teaching the skills of drawing which can be applicable to any medium, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil and pastel. We will do exercises in a range of formal skills: quality of line, negative and positive space, understanding form, composition of elements within a format. This grounding will help you find your own means of expression. With guidance you will learn a broad range of skills that can improve your drawing skill and appreciation of drawing. Life Drawing The figure is an attractive and fascinating subject. In our tutored life drawing class we provide a supportive relaxed environment where you can learn figure drawing and practice from a variety of great models. Enjoy an evening of figure drawing with instruction and effective ideas to develop. Each week in this cause we will examine tested drawing exercises that are great for practicing drawing the figure and valuable to help you problem solve. These exercises are effective and build your observational drawing. They build sensitivity to real shape, to gesture, form and the structure of figures. Our focus is to create figures that are convincing and have life. Figure drawing is also valuable for extending an artist’s practice at any level. If you are beginning with fabulous figure work we will provide instruction, demonstrations and feed back to build your skill level. Perspective A good working knowledge of the concepts of perspective will help you draw any subject with correct dimensionality. It can also help in your realist drawing, painting and invented subjects and environments. These concepts are also used in most two dimensional art because it enables us to realize great spatial effects, making it an invaluable tool to add to your skill set. Mono Printing - Experimental Mark Making Of all the print making methods, mono printing is the most spontaneous, responsive and versatile, being the medium for everything from abstract expressionism to hyper photographic realism. Simple and direct with the minimum of equipment and media, mono printing is approachable for any age or ability level, yet the creative potential is unlimited. For people starting in printmaking and people already with an art practice in any media. We will experiment with a whole new method of mark making, transfer and texture to build skill level and also provide a cross discipline change to invigorate your existing art practice of painting or drawing. Watercolour Watercolour is a beautiful and exciting medium characterized by freshness, spontaneity, lightness and transparency. This course can introduce beginners to the medium and broaden the experience of those who are already familiar. A range of styles and techniques will be developed, from fine intricate work to looser more spontaneous approaches exploring new textures. Experimentation will be encouraged and personal projects will be investigated and worked on with support in the class. |
